Luke is currently building the sound track for the performance. I’ve been recording found sounds on site and bringing them to his recording studio where he manipulates them and layers them. I’m going to do the sound “merce cunningham” style where the dancers won’t have an opportunity to rehearse with the music prior to the performance. We’ve also been talking about some music that I’ve been working with in the studio recently as inspiration. The music is going to be pretty abstract. I don’t want it to take over the environment too much. There will be times when it will be inaudible.

things are coming along…..i still need to replace the injured dancer so that is a concern.
thinking of naming the piece “This is Not Here”.
i have to start figuring out what i’m going to do for costumes. i have several ideas but need to start bringing in some options. it is supposed to rain on wed & thur which is freaking me out a bit because i have 2 critical rehearsals scheduled that day. yikes!

I’m finally almost set with my rehearsal schedule which will get posted next week.
This past week, I spent some time hanging out at various locations around the space. I started planning where I want things to happen and which dancers to use where in the space. There are these lovely little nooks everywhere.
On Sunday, I came by with my mini-recorder to look for sounds to use to make the sound score for the project. My goal is to use all found sounds on site as the score. I’m sure that we’ll do some extreme effects and manipulation on the sounds but having them sourced here is important to me. I’m also trying to find some of Marion Davies’ films. Could only find a documentary on her at netflix. I watched that and took some sounds from her voice which will get layered in. I would like to find some more.
Hi. Well…I haven’t started choreographing yet because I’m still in the process of making a rehearsal schedule. It’s really the hardest part about all this. Scheduling 7 dancers is crazy. I’ll start choreographing tomorrow and Sunday, I plan to do some recording. I’ll write more on Monday during my 11-2 office hours.
